Five Minute Friday: Story

August 2, 2013

Happy Friday!  Every Friday, Lisa-Jo hosts the Five Minute Friday party.  We get one word to write about for five minutes, no editing.  Today’s word is STORY.

GO.

I love to read and I have a fondness for children’s stories.  Having someone to read to is pretty amazing, too.  I’m still waiting for my own little one to read bedtime stories to, and hopefully that will happen soon (not too soon-still want a little time alone with my new husband).  Until then, I have four amazing nieces and nephews I get to borrow once in a while.  It’s great watching them grow from newborn to toddlers and then to young thinkers.  And this is when the bedtime stories come in.  Sitting in bed with your kid all snuggled close and intently watching as you turn each page is the best thing in the world.  They always want one more story!  Thank goodness for short picture books.  Little hands pointing at the colorful images on the page and eyes glancing at you with excitement.  I love being an auntie and I know when the time comes, I will love (beyond words) being a mom.  And for now, I will cherish the moments and memories I get to borrow and the bedtime stories I get to read before heading to my own home for the night.

STOP.

Yes…being able to read to little ones is a blessing. And at times being able to cut the story short when your getting tired is great too…but then when they start reading along…watch out! I can't skip a word anymore… LOL

Oh yes, awesome! Reading is such a great relationship builder with little ones. Great take on this word today. I appreciate you sharing it with us.

Oh ya, I guess that would get tricky when they start reading! I remember when we started getting longer books read to us and we would get one chapter a night. I guess that's a good way to do it too.

Yes, and it's so cute when they start reading the books too! Thanks for stopping by!
